Mary's Rock Sunset

Join the GMP for a hike up Mary's Rock. It is one of high points in the Shenandoah National Park and you will have some great views from there. It will be steep up to the summit.

This is a sunset hike, so we will take the shortcut to the summit. You will need a headlamp/flashlight or you could use your smartphone's flashlight.

TRAIL: 1.8 miles (parking lot to the summit) It should take us about 1 hr 30 min to the summit (3,514 ft). We will gain 1,210 ft of elevation. This hike is short but strenuous.

SUNSET: The sunset time will be 8:33pm. We will spend about an hour at the summit.

WHEN: Saturday, June 3rd, 2017
MEETING PLACE: Panorama parking lot (38.660045, -78.321371)
MEETING TIME: 6:00 pm @ Panorama parking lot
DRIVE TO THE TRAIL HEAD: 78 miles from DC (1 hr 45 mins from DC)

BACK TO DC: We should be returned to DC between 11:30pm and 12:00am
